Dating from the early 1960s, this vintage Seiko Champion J15018 is a wonderfully elegant example of Seiko’s formative mechanical watchmaking. Its striking black dial features applied silver-tone hour markers, sharp dauphine hands and the beautifully scripted Seiko Champion signature, accompanied by “820” and “Diashock 17 Jewels” markings. The slim stainless-steel case and distinctive angular lugs give the watch the refined proportions characteristic of Japanese dress watches from this period, while the aged case and original-style detailing provide plenty of genuine vintage character.

Inside is a 17-jewel, manually wound Seikosha movement, offering the traditional interaction and charm of a mechanical watch from this era. The watch has been paired with a brand-new brown leather strap with contrasting cream stitching, chosen to complement the deep black dial and polished steel case while making it comfortable and ready to wear. With its unusual black Champion dial, classic early-Seiko styling and beautifully proportioned case, this is a particularly characterful vintage piece and an excellent addition to any Seiko or Japanese watch collection.
